“The Bubbe Diaries,” released as an Audible Originals title in April, 2021, integrates material from Paula’s Generation Grandparent columns in the New York Times with new material. It combines her own bubbe experience (it’s Yiddish for grandmother) with research data, interviews with child psychologists and other experts, and other grandparents’ stories. Somewhat to her surprise, she narrates the audiobook herself. (Available now.)
Paula’s book, “When the Times Comes: Families With Aging Parents Share Their Struggles and Solutions,” appeared in 2009. Published by Hachette, it follows about a dozen families facing decisions about eldercare and includes chapters on multigenerational households, home care, assisted living, nursing homes and hospice. Though no longer in print, it remains available as an e-book, downloadable to any computer, e-reader or mobile device. Paula likes to call it a support group in print.
